Welcome to the AIFFL

Alaska Professional Sports, Inc. (APS), owner of the Alaska Wild Alaska’s first professional football team purchased the Anchorage Indoor Flag Football League, a recreational five-on-five non-contact league which plays at the Cellular One Sports Center in Anchorage.  APS changed the name to Alaska Indoor Flag Football League (AIFFL) and will use the AIFFL to scout and develop local players interested in elevating to a professional level.

The goal is to provide Alaskan athletes with an opportunity to practice football skills during the winter months.  This will ensure that they are competitive for positions on the Wild and within the Intense Football League.  The AIFFL will use the Wild to build and select players, while the AIFFL uses the Wild to inspire players to improve and move to the next level of play.  We are looking at expanding the League to sixteen teams in 2008, including a women's division.

The AIFFL was founded in 2004 with 48 players and four teams; in 2007 the AIFFL played its season with 12 teams and produced six players that played for the Alaska Wild.

The AIFFL will eliminate the biggest challenge facing local athletes and allow them to play football year-round in Alaska. This partnership [AIFFL] fills that void and provides athletes addtional time to work on football skills and foot speed during the winter months.  The AIFFL will also modify its rules to incorporate the Intense Football League’s rules which will also help players make the transition.

The AIFFL is a great opportunity to promote football in Alaska.  Athletes can work on football skills, while local businesses can become involved with affordable team sponsorship opportunities.  A Win/Win deal.

Sincerely,
